Egg Donors Listserv and Online Support Group Code of Conduct

  • Be Courteous.

Keep posts positive and supportive, no degrading or flaming allowed. We can have lively discussion from many viewpoints while respecting each person's position on issues and opinions.

  • Stay on topic.

No jokes, no recipes, no using internet band with on emails that are not pertinent to egg donors.

  • Use Emoticons to communicate non-verbal expression.

Smilies, as they are sometimes referred to, are a combination of type characters that allow your emotions to show through in an email message. Emoticons are important since they can be the only distinguishing element in a written email to indicate your tone (such as making a sarcastic remark that could be taken seriously or misunderstood.)

    The most common Emoticons are:

    :) or :-) indicates a smile

    ;) or ;-) indicates a wink or a pun

:D indicates a large, laughing smile

    :/ indicates disappointment or skepticism

:( or :-( indicates sadness or defeat

Emoticons are mainly used at the end of a sentence such as:
I am so glad I've found the perfect parents! :)

Abbreviations also show emotions and can be used to further display your feeling in an email. Some popular abbreviations are:

    LOL! indicates laughing out loud

ROFL! indicates rolling on the floor laughing

LTNS indicates long time no see

IMHO indicates in my humble opinion

    IMO indicates in my opinion

GMTA indicates great minds think alike

Put asterisks around words for you wish to show emphasis.

I.E. I was *thrilled* to locate my new doctor!

When the Egg Donors Chat Room is opened, emotions and abbreviations will be something that you will want to incorporate in your chat conversations as well.

  • Think before you post.

If what you want to post is directed to a single individual vs. the whole list, you should email that person directly.

  • No "Me Too " posts.

This list is growing rapidly and people will get tired of posts like this. Be sure you offer content in whatever you post to the entire list.

  • No spamming or harvesting of any members...for any reason.
  • Violate and you will disappear.

If you are found to be in violation of any of the above rules - you will be immediately removed from this list without warning.

  • Misrepresent and you will be banned.

If any organization, practice, or professional somehow succeeds in joining this list under fraudulent misrepresentation, they will be immediately unsubscribed, and banned from participating in any area of the TASC website or listservs.

If you have a suggestion, complaint or input about the list, please email your input to
Owner-ED-L@surrogacy.org .
