Alison A. Sconyers is a California attorney who concentrates exclusively in the areas of adoption, surrogacy, and related custody issues such as guardianship, termination of parental rights, and foster parent representation.
Ms. Sconyers graduated with high honors from UOP McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. Prior to law school, Ms. Sconyers worked at an adoption agency. After law school, she worked at a business litigation firm while building her adoption and surrogacy practice. She opened her own practice in July of 1995, intending to work less and spend more time with family. As anyone who owns their own business could have told her, she does not work less - she just enjoys it more! As she puts it, "I do have more flexibility to be with my family. I also enjoy the ability to have more personal relationships with my clients. Helping to build families is some of the most rewarding work available to lawyers. However, I don't think there is any such thing as a part-time surrogacy or adoption lawyer - there's too many people out there who need information and assistance. Their problems are real, and I enjoy being part of their solution."
Ms. Sconyers generally works with surrogacy agencies to assist the parties with negotiating their contracts and obtaining the legal judgments for the parents to get the birth certificates. She has also assisted parties who wish to negotiate independent agreements, but she does not provide any "matching" services.
Ms. Sconyers has an excellent trial record for contested matters that involve adoption, surrogacy, and guardianship. References are available upon request.
Initial consultations are free, and most cases can be handled on either a flat fee or hourly fee basis, at the client's preference (except for contested matters, which are charged hourly). Please feel free to call her office and request further information about her services.
