The Center for Surrogate Parenting & Egg Donation, Inc., is a world renown surrogate parenting and egg donation program located in Beverly Hills, California. With the basic belief that couples ready and willing to take on the responsibilities of parenthood deserve that opportunity, the Center's program offers surrogacy as a means of meeting that need.
The Center offers an organized, comprehensive program, which includes advertising and administration as well as coordination of psychological, legal and medical services. The program offers "open" surrogacy where the couple and surrogate choose each other, The first meeting is with a counselor who helps create a comfortable environment for direct conversation, as well as encourages the discussion of important issues.
As of April 1996, the Center has celebrated 456 births with the help of a surrogate mother. The Center takes great pride in the fact that a surrogate mother has never changed her mind. This is due to the strict screening process that the center uses, where, for example, only one in twenty applicants is accepted into the program. Full-time counselors who specialize in the fields of surrogacy and egg donation provide psychological screening and ongoing support throughout the process, and as long thereafter as needed.
The Center offers Egg Donation as well as three surrogacy programs: artificial insemination; in-vitro fertilization; and in-vitro fertilization/egg donation. Unlike some alternative methods of creating a family, the surrogacy process allows a child to be biologically related to either one, or (in the case of in-vitro fertilization) both, parents. Choosing one of these programs is an individual decision, involving medical, psychological and financial considerations. To assist in the process, the Center offers a full professional team of resources including independent consulting infertility specialists, psychologists, and legal counsel, along with a complete administrative staff. The Center is unique in its heavy reliance on psychological screening, as well as in the comprehensive manner in which it approaches a surrogacy arrangement.
